Some Biological Aspects of Shabbot Barbus grypus (Heckel) in Al-Hilla River/IRAQ

چکیده

The present study was conducted on Shabbot Barbus grypus in Al-Hilla River/middle of Iraq. Monthly samples were collected from September 2009 to August 2010. Water temperature and transparency ranged between 12 37 Cº 39 – 110 cm respectively. 132 specimens collected. highest number individuals June (31) none January February. total length 95 -382 mm wet weight varied 7.7 416 gm. group 180 the most dominant (18.18 %) with 24 individuals. Length Weight relationship calculated as: Log w = -1.942 + 2.889 L n= Gonadosomatic index (GSI) values 0.06 3.17 for males 0.13 5.33 females. Five age groups obtained, fishes 1+ catch. It seems that food nature B. River omnivores dominance plant materials.
